Spike’s Top Shelf Margaritas
You should know: No budget. No wusses. No 1-sip and I’m tipsy female college students. This recipe is for those who can not only afford $40 bottles of liquor, but have the “nose” for good tequila. Check out Tastings.com to search for some tequila reviews!
Here’s what you need to make it (per blenderful): Actually, per serving: 1 1/2 ounces expensive Tequila, 1 ounce Grand Marnier or Cointreau; 1 ounce each of freshly squeezed lime and lemon juice; ice.
And how to do it: Sorry, Spike may be the blenderking, but put your blender aside for this one. Even these ingredients are too good for my 3 blenders. Take out our cocktail shaker, pour in the ingredients with a couple of ice cubes and give it 3 or 4 good shakes – nothing more. Pour into a salt rimmed margarita or martini glass. And, as you see so often, “Rinse and Repeat!”

I’ve been trying to figure out how my favorite bartender makes my favorite drink. I think your recipe is it! Thanks.
This recipe is right on the money. Some might argue with the lemon, but I think it is a fresh take on a tradition. If it had been blended, I would have disowned this site. Enjoy!
THANK YOU, Spike, for all the great recipes. Was just browsing in search of “good” margarita recipes and came across your wonderful site. I’ve copied two of them into my home notebook, your “World Famous” margarita, and your Top Shelf margarita. You just gave a real boost to my reputation with my friends for fine margaritas…!
